Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 4 and ½ cups (135g) Rice Chex® cereal
  • ⅔ cup (134g) sprinkles
  • 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar

Wet Ingredients

  • ¼ cup (57g) unsalted butter, cut into 8 slices
  • 8 ounces (227g) high quality white chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cereal: Pour the Rice Chex cereal into a large bowl and set it aside, making sure the bowl is big enough to mix everything thoroughly.
  2. Melt Butter and Chocolate: In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the butter, white chocolate, almond extract, and vanilla extract. Stir constantly until the butter and chocolate have completely melted and the mixture is smooth. Remove from heat immediately to prevent burning.
  3. Coat the Cereal: Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the cereal. Gently stir to ensure all the pieces are evenly coated with the mixture without breaking the cereal.
  4. Add Sprinkles: Transfer the coated cereal to a large zip-top bag or container with a tight-fitting lid. Add the sprinkles, then seal and shake well until the sprinkles are distributed evenly throughout the mixture.
  5. Coat with Powdered Sugar: Add the powdered sugar to the bag or container, seal, and shake again until the cereal is thoroughly coated in powdered sugar, creating a light, sweet outer layer.
  6. Cool and Store: Spread the coated cereal onto a baking sheet lined with foil or parchment paper to cool and set. Discard any excess powdered sugar that falls off. Once cool, store the Cake Batter Puppy Chow in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.

Notes

  • Use high-quality white chocolate for best flavor and smooth coating.
  • Ensure the melting is done on low heat to prevent burning the chocolate and butter.
  • Allow the coated mix to cool completely before storing to maintain crunchiness.
  • Can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container up to one week.
  • Add other flavored extracts or different colored sprinkles for variation.
