Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Yellow Cake Mix
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened, cut into pieces
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
  2. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, milk, vanilla extract, and egg together until smooth and well combined.
  3. Add Cake Mix: Gradually add the yellow cake mix to the wet ingredients, stirring until a consistent dough forms. It will be thick and slightly sticky.
  4. Fold in Nuts and Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chopped nuts and semisweet chocolate chips, distributing them evenly throughout the dough.
  5. Shape Cookies: Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough and place them about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet. Slightly flatten the tops with your fingers or the back of a spoon.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are set but still soft.
  7. Cool: Remove from oven and allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. This helps them firm up while staying chewy inside.

Notes

  • For a nut-free version, simply omit the chopped nuts.
  • Butter should be softened but not melted for the best texture.
  • Chilling the dough for 30 minutes before baking can help the cookies hold their shape better.
  • Feel free to substitute semisweet chocolate chips with milk or dark chocolate chips based on your preference.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
