Scale

Ingredients

  • 100g chocolate (milk or dark, as preferred)
  • 50g butter
  • 2 tablespoons golden syrup
  • 150g cornflakes

Instructions

  1. Melt the chocolate mixture: In a heatproof bowl over a simmering pan of water (double boiler), gently melt the chocolate and butter together until smooth and fully combined. Remove from heat and stir in the golden syrup until incorporated.
  2. Mix the cornflakes: Add the cornflakes to the melted chocolate mixture and gently fold until all the cornflakes are evenly coated with the chocolate mixture, taking care not to crush them.
  3. Set the mixture: Transfer the mixture into a lined square baking tin or tray, pressing it down lightly to spread evenly. Place it in the refrigerator and chill for at least 1 hour or until fully set and firm.
  4. Serve: Once set, cut into squares or bars and serve as a crunchy, chocolatey snack.

Notes

  • You can use either milk or dark chocolate depending on your taste preference.
  • Substitute cornflakes with bran flakes or rice cereal for variation.
  • Storage: Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • Golden syrup can be replaced with honey or maple syrup if unavailable.
  • Ensure the chocolate mixture isn’t too hot when mixing in cornflakes to avoid sogginess.
