Cinnamon Crescent is a simple and delightful pastry made by twisting refrigerated crescent roll dough with a cinnamon-sugar butter mixture. This easy-to-make treat offers a perfect balance of flaky, buttery texture and warm cinnamon sweetness, ideal for breakfast or an indulgent snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Pastry

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough

Filling

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). This ensures it reaches the right temperature for baking the crescent twists perfectly.
  2. Prepare Dough: Unroll the refrigerated crescent roll dough onto a clean, flat surface. Press the perforations together gently to seal and create one continuous sheet.
  3. Mix Filling: In a small bowl, combine the melted unsalted butter, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract (if using). Stir well until fully mixed.
  4. Apply Filling: Using a pastry brush or spoon, evenly spread the cinnamon-sugar butter mixture over the dough sheet, making sure it covers all areas for consistent flavor.
  5. Cut Dough: Slice the dough sheet into approximately 8 to 10 strips, depending on desired twist size.
  6. Shape Twists: Take each strip and twist it several times gently, then place each twisted piece onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a non-stick mat, leaving some space between pieces.
  7. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10–12 minutes or until the crescents are golden brown and flaky.
  8. Cool and Serve: Remove the twists from the oven and let them cool slightly on a wire rack before serving to enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For extra sweetness, drizzle a simple glaze made from powdered sugar and milk over the cooled twists.
  • You can substitute the cinnamon with other spices like nutmeg or cardamom for variation.
  • Ensure to seal the dough perforations well to prevent filling leakage during baking.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container; they are best consumed within 2 days.
