Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 1 1/2 cups (135g) Rolled Oats
  • 1/2 cup (60g) All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 cup (50g) Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 cup (57g) Melted Butter
  • 1/4 tsp (1.5g) Salt
  • 1 tbsp (8g) Ground Cinnamon

Filling

  • 1/4 cup (50g) Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 cup (57g) Softened Butter

Glaze

  • 1/2 cup (60g) Powdered Sugar
  • 12 tbsp (15-30ml) Milk
  • 1/4 tsp (1.25ml) Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Base. In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, brown sugar (base amount), salt, and ground cinnamon. Stir in the melted butter until the mixture is evenly moistened and crumbly. Set aside about half of this oat mixture for the filling layer.
  2. Make the Filling. To the reserved half of the base mixture, add the softened butter and brown sugar (filling amount). Mix thoroughly until well combined, creating a cinnamon-sweet filling layer.
  3. Assemble the Bars. Press the first half of the oat mixture evenly into the bottom of a greased or parchment-lined square baking dish. Layer the cinnamon filling evenly over this base, then crumble the remaining oat mixture on top of the filling in small pieces, covering it as evenly as possible.
  4. Bake the Bars. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the assembled bars for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbling slightly around the edges.
  5. Prepare the Glaze. While the bars bake, mix the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth and pourable. Adjust milk quantity to achieve desired consistency.
  6. Glaze and Cool. Once baked, remove the bars from the oven and let them cool in the pan for about 15 minutes. Drizzle the glaze evenly over the warm bars. Allow them to cool completely before cutting into bars for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Use softened butter (not melted) in the filling to achieve a creamy texture.
  • Chilling the dough before baking can help maintain the layered texture.
  • For a healthier version, substitute brown sugar with coconut sugar or reduce sugar quantities.
  • Bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerated for a week.
  • Reheat bars slightly before serving for a fresh-baked taste.
