Whipped Cream Ingredients

  • 1 cup heavy cream, chilled
  • ¾ cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Chill the Equipment: Place your mixing bowl and beaters or whisk in the refrigerator or freezer for about 15 minutes to ensure everything is cold. Cold equipment helps the cream whip faster and reach the right consistency.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Pour the chilled heavy cream into the cold mixing bowl. Add the powdered sugar for sweetness. You can adjust the amount of sugar to taste, but ¾ cup provides a balanced sweetness for 1 cup of cream.
  3. Whip the Cream: Using a hand mixer, stand mixer, or whisk, beat the mixture on medium-high speed. Continue whipping until soft to medium peaks form — the cream should hold its shape but still be smooth and fluffy.
  4. Check Consistency: Stop whipping as soon as firm peaks form to prevent the cream from turning into butter. The whipped cream should be light, airy, and hold its shape on a spoon or dessert topping.
  5. Serve or Store: Use the whipped cream immediately as a topping for cakes, pies, hot cocoa, or fresh fruit. Alternatively, you can store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours; gently re-whip before serving if needed.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract while whipping.
  • Make sure the cream is well chilled to whip properly and achieve the best volume.
  • Do not over-whip, or the cream will become grainy and eventually turn to butter.
  • If you want a stabilized whipped cream that holds longer, add 1 teaspoon of gelatin dissolved in a tablespoon of warm water while whipping.
