Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper

Chicken

  • 1 lb chicken breasts, cut into 1 inch pieces

Cooking & Sauce

  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp canola oil (or any light oil)
  • 5 tbsp butter, room temperature
  • 1 tbsp green onions, sliced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Coating: In a medium bowl, mix together all-purpose flour, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, onion powder, salt, and ground black pepper. This seasoned flour will help coat the chicken pieces and enhance their flavor.
  2. Coat the Chicken: Add the cut chicken pieces to the seasoned flour mixture. Toss or gently coat each piece thoroughly to ensure an even, light coating of the flour mixture on all sides.
  3. Cook the Chicken: Heat the unsalted butter and canola oil together in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the coated chicken pieces in a single layer. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Make the Honey Butter Sauce: Lower the heat to medium and add the 5 tbsp of room temperature butter directly to the skillet with the cooked chicken. Stir gently to melt the butter and evenly coat the chicken pieces. Drizzle honey over the chicken and mix until everything is well combined and the sauce has thickened slightly.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat and sprinkle the sliced green onions over the honey butter chicken. Serve immediately for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use chicken thighs instead of breasts for more juiciness.
  • Adjust cayenne pepper to your preferred spice level.
  • Serve with steamed rice or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
  • Ensure butter is at room temperature to help it melt evenly in the sauce.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan when frying the chicken to maintain a crispy coating.
